A man aged in his 50s suffered chest and abdominal injuries when a broken-down bus rolled on to him at Ban Ban Springs on Sunday afternoon.

He was airlifted to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition by an RACQ LifeFlight helicopter.

The incident occurred near the intersection of the Burnett and Isis highways.

A LifeFlight spokesperson said the man was trying to move the vehicle off the road when it rolled on to him.

Emergency services were called to the incident about 4:30pm.
