BIEDO have taken over an unused area next to its office in Gore Street, Murgon, and turned it into “The Platform”.

This is the new name for Murgon’s former library building, located next to Murgon Town Hall.

The library moved into more modern premises many years ago, and the building sat vacant until it found a new use as the South Burnett Local Government Association’s Economic Development Office in the late 1990s.

In mid-2015, BIEDO moved there from its former offices in Goomeri.

CEO Kristy Frahm said the new space would be a place for “business and community to connect, collaborate and grow capacity”.

“We look forward to utilising ‘The Platform’ to host BIEDO events and activities,” Kristy said.

“We are so pleased to be able to offer the space for individuals, businesses and community organisations to use as well, at very affordable rates.”

The new Platform provides a meeting space that can be hired by the half-day or full day by businesses and community groups.

It can also act as a co-working space and can also be used for meetings, training, workshops and events.

Half-day hire is $27.50 (0-4 hours) and full-day hire is $49.50 (5-8 hours), while co-working spaces accommodating up to four desks can be hired for $5.50 an hour.

The venue also includes kitchen access and air-conditioning, and extras like wi-fi and projectors are available on request.

After-hours use is also available, but requires a refundable $20 key deposit.

BIEDO have invited the public to drop in and take a look at the facility from 8:00am to 5:00pm on Friday (June 28).

“The Platform” will then be officially launched at 5:00pm the same night.

Hiring enquiries can be made by phoning BIEDO on 0400-695-456.
