Eight people will face drug-driving charges after recent police operations in the Kingaroy area.

  • June 17 – A 19-year-old Murgon man was stopped at 8:00am driving a Ford ute in Knight Street; and a 34-year-old Inverlaw man was stopped at 4:00pm driving a Mitsubishi on the Bunya Highway.
  • June 18 – A 23-year-old Nanango woman was stopped at 9:00am driving a Holden in Youngman Street;  a 20-year-old Kingaroy woman was stopped at 9:50am driving a Holden ute on River Road; and a 42-year-old Kingaroy man was stopped at 10:00am driving a Kia hatchback on River Road.
  • June 19 –  A 28-year-old Kingaroy man was stopped at 6:50am driving a Holden on Haly Street; and a 19-year-old Kingaroy man was stopped at 9:50am driving a Mitsubishi ute on the D’Aguilar Highway.
  • June 21 – A 20-year-old Margate man was stopped at 9:46am driving a Ford ute on Alford Street.

Traffic 

  • June 18 – A 47-year-old Murgon woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 8 charged with unlicensed driving after police stopped her Toyota hatchback at 6:00pm on the Bunya Highway. Her licence had been expired for 28 days.
  • June 19 – A 45-year-old Kingaroy woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 15 charged with driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle after police pulled over her Holden in Markwell Street.
  • June 20 – Police patrolling at 11:15pm spotted a white Holden sedan travelling south on Kingaroy Street. Police pursued the car as it continued to increase speed and pull away. They activated lights and sirens as the Holden accelerated and evaded the police. Investigations are still continuing.
  • June 22 – A 22-year-old Wondai woman has been given a ticket ($200 fine) for driving with a recently expired licence after she was stopped at 9:25pm driving a Toyota sedan on Alford Street. A check of her licence showed it had expired a week previously.

Property 

Investigations are continuing into the following thefts:

  • Between June 13-17, thieves cut the locks to a shed on a property in Hillsdale Road, Booie, and stole axes, chainsaws, alcohol and an assortment of lights.
  • Between 10:00am and 2:45pm on June 19, a white BMX bike was stolen from a backyard in King Street.

Weapons 

  • At 10:00am on June 18, police pulled over a 35-year-old Kingaroy man driving a BMW sedan in Doonkuna Street, Kingaroy. A search of the vehicle allegedly located a set of knuckledusters. He will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 1 charged with unlawful possession of weapons.

Drugs

  • A 22-year-old Cherbourg man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 29 charged with a drug offence after police spoke to him on the corner of Haly and Williams streets in Kingaroy at 11:30am on June 18. Police allegedly located two syringes, electric scales and other drug utensils.

Kingaroy responded to a variety of incidents between June 17-23 including drug, traffic, weapons and property-related offences. They also attended two calls relating to domestic violence, issued 41 infringement notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 256 roadside breath tests.
