There are some very happy young netballers at St Joseph’s Primary School in Murgon, eager to show off their new uniforms.

The Year 5/6 team are now sporting special netball outfits thanks to a $590 grant from the South Burnett Regional Council.

The youngsters and their teachers were keen to show off their new gear to Deputy Mayor Kathy Duff when she visited the school on Thursday.

The girls wore their new outfits proudly when they took part in last month’s Queensland Catholic Netball Cup tournament in Brisbane.

They played five games – winning two, losing two and drawing one.

“We’re very proud of them. They’re very determined,” teacher Hayley Duff (no relation) said.

“They practised during every lunch break.”

The new uniforms were also a winner in Brisbane, attracting much praise from other teams.
