Murgon’s Fat and Store Sale last Tuesday, June 11, yarded 797 head according to TopX Murgon owner and agent Jason Wicks.

The best selling lots were steers from Earl Retschlag of Nanango, which sold to 273.2c/kg.

“The yarding was mixed, with quality lines selling to a firm market and plainer types cheaper than the previous fortnight’s sale,” Jason said.

Sale highlights:

  • Steers up to 400kg sold to 273.2c/kg, averaging 228.3c/kg
  • Steers 400-500kg topped at 273.2c/kg. averaging 259.9c/kg
  • Steers 500-600kg made 270.2c/kg, averaging 262.3c/kg
  • Steers 600-750kg topped 270.2c/kg, averaging 256.8c/kg
  • Heifers up to 540kg made to 248.2c/kg, averaging 193.7c/kg
  • Bulls over 600kg topped at 260.2c/kg, averaging 251.8c/kg
  • Cows up to 400kg made to 147.2c/kg, averaging 85.1c/kg
  • Cows 400-520kg range topped at 201.2c/kg, averaging 163.5c/kg
  • Cows over 520kg made 210.0c/kg, averaging 184.3c/kg

TopX Murgon started selling at the Murgon Saleyards in April last year, as well as selling direct to feedlot and meatworks and conducting private paddock sales.

The Next Murgon Fat and Store Sale is on Tuesday, June 25 at 8:00am.
