The weather was perfect … but where were all the cars? That’s what the organisers of Saturday’s Kingaroy Scouts car show could well be asking.
The annual show’n’shine is an important fundraiser for the Bunya District Scouts and the organisers had planned a big day of activities, including evening entertainment with a DJ and dancing, free camping and a licensed bar.
Bad sadly, the event wound down early about 3:30pm because of a lack of numbers.
The morning started well, with a display by local fire and rescue crews “rescuing” an injured patient from a car wreck using the jaws of life.
There was also a rural fire display which demonstrated on a mini-scale why it’s important to clear around your house.
The vehicles that did show up for the show’n’shine were top notch, including several trucks, a handful of motorbikes and a range of utes, hotrods and classic sedans.
Despite the low number of entries, judging went ahead and prizes, sponsored by Shannons Insurance, were distributed.
Winners:
- Modern car – Nissan 300ZX
- Custom car – Nissan Skyline R34
- Custom bike – Honda Goldwing
- Modern bike – Harley-Davidson FLSTC
