South Burnett food businesses have been invited to join Business South Burnett on a study tour to the Noosa Farmers’ Market and “Farmer and Sun” in Gympie.

The trip, organised by the South Burnett Regional Council’s economic development unit, will be held on Sunday, June 2.

The Noosa Farmers’ Market attracts up to 10,000 visitors every week.

Participants on the study tour will hear from markets manager Shane Stanley about how to get their products into the Sunshine Coast market.

From there, the study tour will head to Gympie to hear the Waugh family’s story about how they successfully transitioned from being farmers to running a retail / café operation while continuing to showcase their own and other local produce.

“The future of food within the South Burnett is an exciting one,” Mayor Keith Campbell said.

“This trip will create a great environment to begin collaboration and food trail discussions among the South Burnett food network.”

The Road Trip conversation topic will be: “Building the South Burnett as a food destination”

The bus will leave Hidden Gold Homestead at Moffatdale at 4:40am.

The study tour is free but all meals and other purchases will be at the expense of the participant.

To book a seat, contact Council’s Economic Development Officer Kristy Board on (07) 4189-9100 or by email by noon on May 29.
