Murgon police are investigating the theft of six vehicles in just four days.

All vehicles – stolen in four separate incidents – have been located but police have not provided any information about what condition they are in.

Between 4:00pm on April 27 and 7:00am on April 28, thieves gained entry to a business in Taylor Street, Murgon, and stole six sets of keys. They then drove off in three vehicles.

The vehicles were located on April 28.

Between 2:00pm and 7:15pm on April 27, thieves entered a home in Douglas Street, Murgon, through an unsecured window. They then located car keys and stole a vehicle. This was also recovered on April 28.

About 10:45pm on April 30, thieves entered a home in Centenary Court, Murgon, located keys and stole a vehicle. This vehicle was located in Kingaroy.

About 11:30pm on April 30, a thief used keys previously stolen to drive away in a vehicle parked at a residence in Scott Street, Wondai. The vehicle was located in Cherbourg on May 1.

Investigations into all the above incidents are continuing.

  • April 28 – At midnight, a thief siphoned fuel from a vehicle parked in the driveway of a home in Cobbo Street, Murgon.
  • April 28 – Between 5:30pm and 5:50pm, thieves entered a home in Jefferies Street, Murgon, and stole various personal items.
  • May 1 – About 2:00am,  would-be thieves entered a home in Scott Street, Wondai, via an unsecured door. They fled when a dog alerted the residents.
  • Between 8:30am on May 3 and 8:30am on May 8, unknown offenders have attended a residence in Caswell Street, Murgon, and damaged the rear and front security screens.

  • A 24-year-old Murgon woman will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on May 14 charged with drink driving and unlicensed driving after police intercepted her vehicle about 4:00am on April 27 in Palmer Street, Murgon.
  • A 30-year-old Bungalow woman will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on May 21 charged with drink driving after police pulled over a vehicle about 9:00pm on May 1 in Bell Street, Cherbourg.
  • An 18-year-old Cherbourg man will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on June 4, charged with unlicensed driving after police stopped a vehicle about 9:45am on May 2 in Macalister Street, Murgon.

Police from Murgon, Cherbourg and Wondai responded to a variety of incidents between April 26 and May 3 including drug, traffic offences and property offences. They also attended four calls related to domestic violence, issued three infringement notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 26 roadside breath tests.
