South Burnett Online advertising consultant Denise Keelan has had a lucky escape after her campervan went up in flames at Buderim.

The well-known Kingaroy photographer was on her way to cover the Far-A-Way Endurance Ride at Imbil when the incident occurred last Thursday.

She was driving her yellow Mazda E3000 campervan, better known as “Miss Daisy”, through Buderim when she heard crackling behind her and smelled fire.

Denise immediately pulled off the road.

As she phoned for help, she also began pulling items from the van, however the vehicle was engulfed in flames within minutes.

By the time firefighters arrived there was nothing they could do except stop the fire from spreading.

Denise managed to save her purse and most of her camera gear but everything else in the van, including clothing and medicine, was destroyed.

Despite the setback, Denise – who’s more used to covering the news than making it – still managed to make it to Imbil to photograph the ride.

The interior of the van was totally wrecked … fortunately a gas bottle (bottom photo) did not explode
