Drizzle on Easter Saturday morning couldn’t stop an eager bunch of youngsters scouring Kingaroy’s Memorial Park for some very elusive eggs.

The Easter In The Park egg hunt was put on by South Burnett Flight Savers Inc – a group that raises funds for the LifeFlight Foundation – but organiser Cardell Turner said the main aim was to keep the spirit of Easter alive in Kingaroy.

About 80 people – parents and children – turned up for the morning.

“The kids enjoyed themselves, that was the main thing,” Cardell said.

The egg hunt was organised at short notice by Flight Savers but will now become a regular event on the group’s annual calendar.

Flight Savers wanted to publicly thank Taabinga Rotary, who provided the sausage sizzle on the morning, and Annie’s Cafe who brought along the coffee van.

Cardell also shared some news about the Flight Savers’ annual South Burnett Community Fun Day.

This year’s event – on Saturday, August 17 – will be held at Nanango Showgrounds.

A fundraising dinner will be held the evening before, also at the showgrounds.

The Community Fun Day began life with pig races in Kingaroy’s Memorial Park in 2017.

Last year, the focus shifted to a “Top Gun Challenge”, which was held at Kingaroy Showgrounds.

The 2019 event in Nanango will combine the highlights of the previous two events … with pig races plus the muscle-testing challenge.
