Fundraising efforts by the Kingaroy Senior Citizen’s Club have given two vital health services a big boost.

The club presented a cheque for $2000 to RACQ LifeFlight on Monday, and has another $2000 cheque ready for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

LifeFlight volunteer Geoff Clements travelled from Maroochydore to accept the cheque on behalf of the medevac service.

He said 2017 had been the busiest year yet for the Sunshine Coast-based helicopter, which undertook more than 500 missions, and 2019 was shaping up to be even busier.

Geoff said the youngest patient carried by LifeFlight so far was just one hour old, and the oldest was 99.

He said the State Government contributed 65 per cent of the operating costs, and the rest came from the naming rights sponsor RACQ, other corporations, sponsorships and local fundraising from groups like the Kingaroy Senior Citizens Club.

“We are so grateful for local supporters such as yourselves,” he said.

Kingaroy Senior Citizens have a big year ahead of them, with visits planned to Chinchilla, Yarraman and Nanango senior citizens clubs; and Kingaroy visits from Crows Nest, Caboolture and Kilcoy clubs.

They also have musical days scheduled for March 22 and April 12, as well as a trip to the Broncos Club in Brisbane planned for April 4.
