Murgon police have endured another week of people throwing rocks, smashing windows, kicking in doors, breaking into houses and stealing vehicles …

Vandalism

  • Between 4:00pm on February 14 and 8:15am on February 17, a rock was thrown through the window of a business on Macalister Street, Murgon.
  • Between 7:00pm on February 15 and 8:00am on February 16, a window was smashed at a residence on Macalister Street, Murgon.
  • About 12:30am on February 17, rocks were thrown at a police vehicle driving along Barber Street in Cherbourg.
  • About 11:30pm on February 20, an object was thrown at a glass window at an address in Broadway Street, Cherbourg.
  • Between 9:00pm on February 20 and 6:50am on February 21, a vehicle parked in Cobbo Street, Cherbourg, was damaged.
  • About 8:00pm on February 21, a rock was thrown at a house on Krebs Street, Murgon, causing damage.
  • Between midnight on February 21 and 7:30am on February 25, the door to a property on Macalister Street, Murgon, was damaged by kicking.

Investigations into the above offences are continuing.

Break-Ins

  • Between 9:00am on February 17 and 2:30pm on February 19, a business on Macalister Street, Murgon, was broken into. The would-be thieves used an implement to open a window. No property was taken.
  • Between midnight on February 16 and 4:00pm on February 17, would-be thieves damaged a lock and broke into a storage shed in Macalister Street, Murgon. No property was removed.
  • Between 7:10am and 6:00pm on February 16, thieves damaged a door to break into a property on Hoggs Road, Charlestown. They stole vehicle keys, personal items and a vehicle from the address. Police located the vehicle in Cherbourg on February 17, and have since spoken to three youths.
  • Between 10:00am on February 17 and 10:00am on February 18, vandals forced entry into a residence in Beattie Street, Cherbourg, by damaging a door. Offenders then damaged property inside the house.
  • Between 3:10pm on February 20 and 3:30pm on February 21, a man attended a residence on Webster Street, Murgon, and entered through a unsecured door. The man removed various personal items before leaving.
  • About 2:00am on February 21, a would-be thief removed a screen from a window of a home in South Street, Wondai.
  • Between 4:00am on February 22 and 2:30pm on February 23, thieves levered open a door at a property on Bond Street, Moffatdale. They stole various personal items and vehicle keys before stealing a vehicle from a shed. Police located the vehicle in Cherbourg on February 24.

Investigations into the above offences are continuing.

Fuel Drive-Off

  • About 5:40pm on February 18, a driver fuelled up at Dan’s Diner in Haly Street, Wondai, and drove off without paying. Investigations are continuing.

Drugs

  • A 33-year-old Nanango man will appear in Nanango Magistrates Court on March 18 charged with possessing dangerous drugs and drug utensils after police intercepted and searched a vehicle on Ficks Crossing Road at Ficks Crossing.

Traffic

  • A 28-year-old Cherbourg man will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on March 19 charged with unlicensed driving after police stopped a vehicle about 9:15pm on February 22 in Fisher Street, Cherbourg.

Police from Murgon, Cherbourg and Wondai responded to a variety of incidents between February 15-22. These incidents included drug, traffic and property offences. Police also attended 11 calls related to domestic violence, issued four infringement notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 290 roadside breath tests.
