Action from an U16s women’s game between the South Burnett and Hervey Bay in Murgon last year

One of the hottest trends in women’s sport in recent years has been rugby league.

South Burnett women’s teams have been competing in Sunshine Coast competitions for the past few years but individual players have been travelling away from the area to enjoy the game for much longer.

Girls aged between 9-12 who are interested in trying rugby league have been invited to take part in the South Burnett Girls’ “Gala Tour” in March.

Free evenings have been organised at Kingaroy, Nanango and Murgon.

NRL Game Development Officer Blake Mara said the girls who come along will be able to participate in a fun, friendly and safe atmosphere free of charge.

The sessions will be held at:

  • Kingaroy: From 6:00pm-7:30pm at T.J. O’Neill Oval on Friday, March 8
  • Nanango: From 6:00pm-7:30pm at Stags Oval on Friday, March 15
  • Murgon: From 6:00pm-7:30pm at Murgon Sportsground on Friday, March 22

Registrations can be made online
