Kingaroy police are investigating a “sneak break” which woke a resident in Macdiarmid Street on February 11.

The resident awoke to find a youth in their house.

Startled, the thief ran off towards Jarrah Street taking two sets of car keys, a mobile phone and a purse with him.

Police say the offender entered the house through the front door.

He was wearing a red cap and quarter-length pants.

On February 13, Kingaroy police were called to a property on Premier Drive after someone gained access to the backyard and damaged a trampoline.

Also on February 13, a woman approached the checkout at a business located on Alford Street, Kingaroy, and observed a gift bag in the bagging area. Before leaving the shop, she placed an item either side of the gift bag and then placed all the items, including the gift bag, into the bottom of her pram.

A 24-year-old Kingaroy man  will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on March 26 charged with wilful damage after he allegedly smashed a glass window with a wooden picket in Haly Street, Kingaroy, in the early hours of February 15.

On February 13, police executed a warrant at a home in Recreation Drive at Memerambi.  A 46-year-old man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on March 25 charged with unlawful of possession of firearms and two counts of possessing explosives (ammunition).

A number of South Burnett residents will face drug charges after police operations:

  • A 44-year-old Kingaroy man will face Kingaroy Magistrates Court on March 4 charged with producing dangerous drugs and possessing drug utensils after police searched a Haly Street house on February 13.
  • A 49-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on March 11 charged with possessing dangerous drugs after police intercepted him in George Street, Kingaroy at 4:45am on February 16.
  • A 26-year-old Wondai man will appear in the Kingaroy Magistrates Court on March 11 charged with possessing dangerous drugs after police stopped and searched his Ford Falcon in River Road, Kingaroy at 11:00pm on February 16.
  • A 26-year-old Nanango woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on March 25 charged with possessing dangerous drugs and two other drugs-related charges after police stopped and searched a Holden Captiva on the D’Aguilar Highway at 10:50pm on February 17.

A 25-year-old Memerambi man has been charged with attempting to ride a pushbike while under the influence of liquor.

Police will allege they saw the man and his bicycle on Haly Street, Kingaroy, at 11:26pm on February 13.

The man was attempting to balance himself on the pushbike but kept falling off and was unable to ride in a straight line.

He will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on March 25.

  • A 26-year-old Kingaroy man has been fined $435 and lost four points after police detected his black Holden ute doing 80km/h in a 50km/h zone in Doonkuna Street, Kingaroy, at 4:56am on February 14.
  • A 23-year-old Kingaroy man has been fined $261 and lost three points after police spotted his Holden Calais doing 119km/h in a 100km/h zone on Kingaroy-Cooyar Road at 5:25pm on February 14.
  • A motorcycle rider aged in his 20s was taken to Kingaroy Hospital on Tuesday night following a motorbike crash on a private property in Blackbutt North. The man suffered arm and leg injuries.

Kingaroy police responded to a variety of incidents between February 11-17 including traffic, good order and property-related offences.

Police also attended two calls related to domestic violence incidents, issued 15 infringement notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 70 roadside breath tests.
