South Burnett police have again been kept busy investigating thefts and break-ins in the Murgon and Cherbourg areas:

  • Between 4:30pm on February 8 and 7:00am on February 9, unknown offenders forced the rear door of a business in Carter Street, Cherbourg. Once inside they damaged property.
  • Between 12:30am and 8:30am on February 8, unknown offenders attempted to enter a residence on Watt Street, Murgon, through a rear window.
  • Between 8:30pm on February 8 and 5:00am on February 9, thieves entered a residence on Dusty Close, Moffatdale, via an unsecured door. They stole vehicle keys, personal items and a vehicle. The stolen vehicle was located on February 11 in Cherbourg.
  • About 10:30am on February 9, thieves reached over the counter and removed cash from the cash register of a business in Lamb Street, Murgon.
  • Between 4:10pm on February 9 and 7:50am on February 10, thieves used a tool to open a door to a business in Lamb Street, Murgon. They stole various personal items and cash.
  • Between 10:30pm on February 9 and 12:30am on February 10, thieves entered a business on Stephen Street, Murgon, via an unsecured door. They stole cash and stationery.
  • Between 12:30am on February 9 and 8:15am on February 11, unknown offenders attempted to gain entry to a business in Lamb Street, Murgon, causing extensive damage to a door.
  • Between 4:30pm and 5:00pm on February 10, unknown offenders attended a business on Lamb Street, Murgon, and tried to gain entry through a window.
  • Between 2:00pm and 3:00pm on February 10, thieves broke into a business in Lamb Street, Murgon, through a rear door. They removed various items and left through the rear door.
  • Between 3:00pm and 10:30pm on February 10, thieves climbed a fence and broke a window to gain entry the Graham House Transport building in Macalister Street, Murgon. They located vehicle keys and stole two vehicles. One was later located in Cherbourg and the other in Kingaroy.
  • About 11.30pm on February 10, thieves broke into a business in Haly Street, Wondai, by smashing a front window. They stole liquor before being disturbed by the owner and departed in a waiting vehicle.
  • Between 3:00pm on February 11 and 7:00am on February 12, thieves gained entry through a rear door to a business on Macalister Street, Murgon, and removed various items.
  • About 9:00pm on February 11, thieves gained entry through a rear door to a business on Macalister Street, Murgon. They stole cash and damaged property before departing.
  • About 5:50pm on February 14, an unknown person took personal belongings from the passenger seat of a vehicle parked in Bligh Street, Cherbourg, before running off.

Drugs

A number of search warrants were executed across the Murgon, Wondai and Cherbourg regions on February 8: 

  • A 37-year-old Cherbourg woman has been charged with possessing drug utensils and property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence after a search of a house in Broadway Street, Cherbourg.
  • A 52-year-old Murgon man has been charged with possessing dangerous drugs, drug utensils and failing to properly dispose of a needle and syringe after a search of a house in Palmer Street, Murgon.
  • A 46-year-old Barlil man has been charged with possessing drug utensils after a search at an address on Paul Holznagel Road, Barlil.
  • A 26-year-old Murgon man has been charged with producing dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing drug utensils after a search of a house in Cobb Street, Murgon.
  • A 29-year-old Kingaroy man has been charged with possessing dangerous drugs and failing to properly dispose of a needle and syringe after a search of a house in Grant Crescent, Wondai.

All charged will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court at a later date.

Drink-Driving

  • A 33-year-old Cooloola Cove woman will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on February 22 after she was stopped by police on Black Street in Murgon about 9:10pm on February 8. She will face a charge of driving a motor vehicle while over the middle alcohol limit.
  • A 23-year-old Wattle Grove man will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on March 5 charged with drink driving after police intercepted his vehicle about 1:00am on February 10 in Grant Street, Wondai.

Police officers from Murgon, Cherbourg and Wondai responded to a variety of incidents between February 8-15.

These included drug, traffic and property offences. Police also attended 20 calls related to domestic violence, issued five infringement notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 524 roadside breath tests.
