The first Clean Up Australia Day to be held following the death of founder Ian Kiernan is sure to be a sad occasion for the thousands of Australians who will take part next month at sites across Australia.
Ian came up with idea of Clean Up Australia after being shocked at the rubbish he saw while sailing solo around the world in 1987.
The first day was held along the shores of Sydney Harbour in 1989 but in following years quickly spread to sites right across Australia.
Ian died of cancer in October last year.
