Break-ins and thefts have been keeping local police busy in the Murgon, Wondai and Cherbourg areas over the past fortnight.

  • A 42-year-old Wondai woman has been charged with stealing after she allegedly removed money from the counter of a business in Lamb Street, Murgon, on January 11. She will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on February 12.
  • A 34-year-old Woorabinda man has been charged with unauthorised dealing with shop goods after he allegedly removed an item from a shelf in a Lamb Street business on January 12. He will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on February 5.
  • Between 9:00pm and 4:00am on January 12, thieves stole a set of a keys from a house in Hillview Street, Cherbourg. They then used the keys to steal a vehicle parked in the carport at the same address. Police found the vehicle the next day.
  • Between 5:30pm on January 14 and 2:00pm on January 16, thieves forced the door of a shed on a property on Tingoora-Chelmsford Road, Cushnie, and stole a camper-trailer.
  • Between 1:30pm on January 14 and midnight, thieves forced entry into a home in Broadway Street, Cherbourg. They then removed various items of food.
  • Between 4:30pm on January 15 and 5:30pm on January 16, thieves forced entry into a shed in Bond Street, Cherbourg. They then used tools from the shed to force a door at the front of a house. They took various personal items before departing.
  • About 9:10pm on January 16, thieves entered an unsecured rear door to a dwelling on Harm Street, Murgon, and stole personal items.

A 39-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on February 12 charged with possessing dangerous drugs and possessing a knife in a public place after police stopped a vehicle in Nutt Street, Murgon, about 10:45pm on January 11.

Unknown offenders allegedly threw rocks through a window of a business on Douglas Street, Murgon, on January 12. Investigations are continuing.

Police from Murgon, Cherbourg and Wondai responded to a variety of incidents between January 11-18.

These included drug, traffic and property offences.

Police also attended 12 calls related to domestic violence incidents, issued 19 infringements notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 49 roadside breath tests.
