Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington says there are many priorities for the Nanango electorate for 2019 but a main one she will be concentrating on will be roads.
Speaking to reporters last week, Mrs Frecklington said the State Government had stripped about $400 million out of road funding for projects in the Wide Bay region over the past couple of years and this was “simply unacceptable”.
“We have seen a terrible fatality on the Mundubbera-Durong Road just recently,” she said.
“That is a road that we took to the last election with a $15 million package.
“I will continue to hammer the Palaszczuk Government to remember roads – like the Maidenwell-Bunya Mountains Road, like the Mundubbera-Durong Road – because we cannot afford another fatality on our roads.”
On a happier note, Mrs Frecklington said it would be a massive year for the South Burnett with big events scheduled including the Blackbutt Avocado Festival, Wine and Food in the Park and BaconFest.
