A man has died following a single-vehicle crash near Boondooma on Monday afternoon.

A police spokesman said initial information was that a ute travelling along Mundubbera-Durong Road left the roadway about 12:30pm, struck a tree and rolled.

The driver, a 40-year-old South Toowoomba man, suffered critical injuries in the crash and died at the scene.

Two passengers, a 50-year-old Newtown man and a 26-year-old Wilsonton Heights man, were flown to PA Hospital in Brisbane in a serious but stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Emergency services had to free two of the occupants from the wrecked vehicle.

An RACQ LifeFlight helicopter and QGAir’s Rescue 500 helicopter landed near the crash site to ferry the injured men to hospital.

The Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
