Police will be out in force on South Burnett roads over the next few weeks

Five drivers have been charged with drug driving after being pulled over in Kingaroy by the Kingaroy Road Policing Unit … including four in just one shift!

On December 6, police intercepted:

  • A 44-year-old Kingaroy man driving on Youngman Street,
  • A 49-year-old Redland Bay man driving on Youngman Street,
  • A 22-year-old South Nanango woman driving on Somerset Street, and
  • A 23-year-old Wondai man driving on Parkside Drive.

On December 15, a 23-year-old Kingaroy man was pulled over while travelling on Haly Street, Kingaroy.

All five drivers will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court.

A 33-year-old Nanango man will face a charge of unlicensed driving after he was pulled over on the D’Aguilar Highway at Coolabunia on Thursday afternoon.

His vehicle was also immobilised for 90 days. He will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on January 21.

On Friday morning, the Kingaroy Road Policing Unit intercepted a 42-year-old Aratula man travelling south on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy.

When asked to provide his name, he allegedly gave his boss’s name but later admitted he had lied.

He was issued with a Notice to Appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on January 21 to face charges of contravening a police requirement and disqualified driving.

On Saturday night, police stopped a vehicle on Wondai-Proston Road for not having tail lights.

The driver, a 49-year-old Proston man, allegedly tested positive for drink-driving (0.122 BAC).

Police will also allege the man had never held a licence. He will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on January 22.

Queensland Police will be conducting Operation Quebec Fatal 5 from December 14 to February 1, incorporating the Christmas Road Safety Campaign and back-to-school periods.

The operation is designed to improve road safety and reduce the number of fatal traffic crashes and bicycle incidents.

Motorists can expect to see a higher number of police vehicles on highways and roads during this period.
