The 2018 NAIDOC Week slogan “Because Of Her We Can” was adopted as the theme for this year’s Golden Oldies at Cherbourg … and the ladies came out in force!
You should have seen them on the dance floor …
Golden Oldies is for the over-50s only.
It began at Cherbourg more than 25 years ago when some elders in the community decided they were tired of only catching up with old friends at funerals.
They decided to organise an event once a year to have a good time, reminisce and celebrate life and friendship.
As always, there was lots of music, lots of dancing and lots of laughter on Saturday at the Welfare Hall.
People born in Cherbourg – or with links to the community – come from all over Queensland for the reunion.
It is also a great day out for the residents of Cherbourg’s Ny-Ku Byun Elders Village.
