South Burnett Regional Council plans to start work next Monday on new footpaths in Alford and Mant streets, Kingaroy.
The work will begin on the southern side of Alford Street at the new culverts and proceed down to the Mant Street intersection.
When this is finished, the footpath will be extended down the eastern side of Mant Street to the Kingaroy State High School gate.
Work will include excavation and concreting plus the installation of pram ramps and signs.
The project is expected to be completed next month, weather permitting.
A Council spokesperson said that in order to provide a safe working environment, the footpath and parking lane in the immediate area would be closed.
Through traffic would be controlled by signage or traffic control with some minor delays expected.
There may also be restrictions for local residents accessing their properties. If access will be affected, owners will be notified in advance by the on-site supervisor.
