Two young boys were chased by police and arrested after a car was stolen from Cherbourg State School on Wednesday morning.

The boys – aged 12 and 14 – allegedly stole the red Holden Barina and drove it around Cherbourg streets before ramming a Council vehicle.

A Murgon police spokesman said the boys fled the scene but were quickly caught by police and are now in custody.

The latest incident follows the theft of a red Mitsubishi Lancer from Wondai on Tuesday night.

This vehicle was later found crashed into a concrete post near Fisher Street in Cherbourg.

It is unknown at this stage whether the two incidents are linked.

Anyone with information should contact Murgon Police on (07) 4179-5222 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800-333-000.
