A Nanango motorbike rider who allegedly sped away from police through Kingaroy’s Rotary Park will face 13 charges when he fronts court next month.

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant David Tierney, said police attempted to intercept a black Yamaha motorbike on Kingaroy Street about 12:20am last Monday (October 22).

“The motorcycle failed to stop and rode through Rotary Park at speed to avoid interception, at which time police discontinued their intercept attempt,” Snr Sgt Tierney said.

“A short time later, police were on Youngman Street when they observed the motorcycle again.”

This time the rider allegedly rode on to the wrong side of the road to get away from police.

Police later attended a disturbance at a hotel where they located a 38-year-old Nanango man who matched the description of the motorcycle rider.

The man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on November 26 charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evade police, possess tainted property, two counts of unlicensed driving, four counts of driving an unregistered vehicle, two counts of driving an uninsured vehicle, and two counts of having a false label attached.

A 25-year-old Kingaroy woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on November 26 charged with disqualified driving after police pulled over her Ford in Haly Street, Kingaroy, at 12:35am last Thursday.

Her vehicle was also immobilised for seven days.

Kingaroy police have charged a number of people recently with drug offences:

  • A 21-year-old Kingaroy woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on November 26 charged with possessing a dangerous drug, drug utensils and property suspected of being used in a drug offence after a search of her backpack allegedly located a small of amount of amphetamine and drug utensils. The woman was spoken to by police at a business in Youngman Street, Kingaroy, at 7:00am last Monday.
  • Also on October 22, police executed a search warrant at an Earl Street address where they allegedly located a small quantity of cannabis and drug utensils. A 41-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on December 3.
  • Last Wednesday, police searched a Webster Street address and allegedly located a small quantity of cannabis and drug utensils.  A 19-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on November 5.
  • On Sunday, Kingaroy police had occasion to speak with a 33-year-old Kingaroy man in relation to another matter. A search allegedly located him in possession of drug utensils and materials. He will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on November 5 charged with failing to properly dispose of a syringe and possession of property suspected of having been used in drug-related offence.

Last Tuesday night, unknown thieves stole Queensland registration plates from a vehicle parked in a driveway in Jarrah Street, Kingaroy.  Police investigations are continuing.

Police are investigating the theft of power tools last Tuesday from a Ford ute parked in a hotel car park in Kingaroy.

The Milwaukee brand tools were stolen from a storage box on the utility tray which was unlocked.

On Wednesday, an unknown person attended an address in Gladys Street, Kingaroy, and slashed the tyres of a Ford sedan. Investigations are continuing.

On Sunday, thieves stole tools and car keys from a Nissan ute parked in the backyard of a Kingaroy Street address.

Police officers responded to a variety of incidents between October 22-28 within the Kingaroy Police Division, including drug, traffic and property offences.

During this period police also attended 10 calls related to domestic violence, issued six infringement notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 59 roadside breath tests.
