A Brisbane murder trial came to an abrupt halt on Monday when the accused pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

William Arthur Feeney, 57, had initially pleaded not guilty in the Supreme Court to a charge of murdering his housemate, Nanango resident Bruce Flynn.

Mr Flynn, 60, was found unconscious at his home in Old Esk Road, Nanango, on September 11, 2015.

He was taken to Kingaroy Hospital where he died a short time later.

Feeney will be sentenced at a later date.
