KCCI President Rob Fitz-Herbert

The Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has urged local businesspeople to come along to their next meet’n’greet to hear two guest speakers who have been added to the program.

KCCI president Rob Fitz-Herbert said there was a lot of misunderstandings in the business community about the National Disability Insurance Scheme, and the requirement that all businesses providing services must be registered.

This requirement even extended to tradespeople called in to make repairs.

Mr Fitz-Herbert said he feared local businesses could miss out on opportunities if they did not learn about the process.

For this reason, the KCCI has invited Jason Lynam, the co-ordinator for community capacity building at service provider APM to address the meeting.

“This is information for the business community on how they can provide services to the NDIS,” Mr Fitz-Herbert said.

The second guest speaker that the KCCI wants to highlight is Loretta Wengel, local project manager for telco Nexgen.

Mr Fitz-Herbert said he believed many local businesspeople were still in the dark about how the rollout of the NBN was going to affect their operations.

He said Ms Wengel would be able to answer questions, provide the forecast changeover dates and explain what businesses needed to do.

The KCCI Meet’n’Greet will be held at Generation Funerals’ premises  at 19 Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 5:15pm on Tuesday, October 23.

Cost to attend is $10.
