South Burnett households, schools and community groups are invited to join more than 400,000 people across the country on the weekend of October 20-21 as a part of the eighth annual Garage Sale Trail.
The Garage Sale Trail is an award-winning community and sustainability event supported by more than 140 Councils nationwide.
It is expected this year’s event will involve more than 15,000 garage sales across Australia.
South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell said the Garage Sale Trail was a fun and social way for Council to encourage reuse and help educate the community about why we all need take responsibility for the waste we generate.
“The Garage Sale Trail also provides a way to meet your neighbours and connect with the broader community while raising money for yourself or local causes,” Mayor Campbell said.
“We’re really pleased to be involved in this grassroots event.
“Like the reuse movement, it’s growing year on year.”
Garage Sale Trail organisers estimate that more than 1.5 million items will be listed for sale and reuse this year.
Participation in the Garage Sale Trail is free, but sellers should register their sale online at garagesaletrail.com.au
