Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington has announced the latest round of her Local Hero Grants, with four lucky recipients each receiving $250.
The four successful groups in Round 6 are:
- South Burnett Little Athletics for shirts and hats for the club’s coaches,
- 2018 Queensland Limousin Youth Camp to help subsidise the cost of the camp for the young participants,
- Stefanie Coyne (Year 7 Nanango SHS student) to help her attend State trials for discus in Cairns, and
- Jaycee Trace (St Patrick’s Nanango student) to help her attend the Interschool National Equestrian Competition in Melbourne.
Mrs Frecklington presented a cheque to South Burnett Little Athletics Club president Kaylene Kapernick and thanked her for the role the club is playing in encouraging South Burnett children to participate in Little Athletics.
“This Local Hero Grant will help the club purchase new uniforms for the coaches, including broad-brimmed hats to keep them sun safe during the hot summer months. The uniforms will also make them more easily identifiable at events and training,” Mrs Frecklington said.
“Once again, I received some fantastic applications from groups and individuals around the Nanango Electorate for Round 6 of my Local Hero Grants program.
“These are small but meaningful $250 grants which provide an opportunity to show my support, thanks and appreciation for all our hardworking volunteer groups who make such a difference for our community. They also encourage people who are attending sporting or other events and need assistance to make it possible.”
Round 7 is now open with applications closing on November 30.
