South Burnett Regional Council announced the successful applicants for Round 1 of its 2018-19 Community Grants program at its monthly meeting on Wednesday.

The funding round closed on August 31.

Communities portfolio chair Cr Danita Potter said the Council had received 54 applications seeking a total of $105,117.17.

It approved 41 for $65,640.88.

This was about $7000 more than a year ago, when Council received 50 applications requesting a total of $125,952.88, and approved 39 for $58,449.55.

The successful applicants were:

Community Hall Insurance Grants:

  • Farmers Hall, Inverlaw – $1000
  • Mondure Hall Committee – $1000
  • Queensland Dairy & Heritage Museum – $1000
  • Tablelands Hall Committee – $1000
  • Wooroolin Hall Committee – $1000

School Awards Nights:

  • Nanango State High School – $300
  • Proston P-10 – $250
  • Wondai P-10 – $250
  • St Mary’s Catholic College – $300
  • Yarraman P-9 – $200

Christmas Carols and Carnivals:

  • Blackbutt-Benarkin Lions Club – $2000
  • Kingaroy District Ministry Association – $1500
  • Kumbia & District Memorial School Of The Arts – $1200
  • Proston Lions Club – $500
  • Wesleyan Methodist Church, Nanango – $1500

Annual Events:

  • Kumbia Kindergarten – $1000
  • Kumbia Race Club – $2000
  • Murgon PA&H Society – $1500

  • Boondooma Museum and Heritage Association – $2660.88 to upgrade on-site cabins
  • Kingaroy Men’s Shed – $1500 for tool and machine upgrades
  • Kingaroy Scout Group – $2015 for a new kitchen
  • Kumbia & District Charity Campdraft Association – $3000 for toilet and shower block refurbishments
  • Murgon C&K Kindergarten – $3000 for an Aboriginal mural
  • Nanango State School P&C – $1500 for a uniform and shoe bank
  • Proston Golden Spurs Campdraft – $3000 for a new PA system
  • Wooroolin QCWA – $3000 for air-conditioning and insulation

Round 2 will be held in February 2019.
