Some of Australia’s best young speedway riders were in action in Kingaroy on Saturday for the Queensland State Titles of the Under 16 125cc Solos and Best Pairs.

This is the third time the Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club has hosted the State Titles.

Twelve riders travelled to Kingaroy for the event.

NSW champion Maurice “Moz” Brown cleaned up, taking out the Solos with a clear win and partnering with fellow NSW rider James Pearson to win the Best Pairs.

Brown and Pearson are two of the most exciting young riders in Australia.

They represented Australia at the FIM Speedway Youth Gold Trophy Final at Rybnik in Poland in July, coming in 9th and 10th place in the world.

The Aussie riders had to earn their spot in the final after competing against the world’s best in 16-rider semi-finals.

The Kingaroy event had larger-than-usual crowd of spectators on Saturday.

The buzzing of the engines attracted many of the older bike riders who were attending the nearby Bikers For Farmers Drought Meet at the showgrounds to pop into the main ring to take a look.

As well as the 125cc action, spectators enjoyed watching the Pee Wee riders take to the circuit between heats.
