A motorbike rider was flown to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Prince Street, Kingaroy, on Saturday.

The 33-year-old Kingaroy man was allegedly attempting to do a wheelie on an unregistered Kawasaki bike when the incident occurred.

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Dave Tierney, said the rider accelerated heavily, lifted the front wheel, lost control and smashed into a large timber fence.

“The impact was sufficient for the rider’s helmet to be dislodged,” Snr Sgt Tierney said.

The rider was transported to hospital with serious injuries to his abdomen and later airlifted to Brisbane for further treatment.

He was required to supply a sample of blood while at hospital but allegedly refused.

The man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on October 22 charged with failing to supply a sample of blood.
