Fire crews are monitoring a large grass fire which broke out at Inverlaw on Sunday afternoon.

Urban and rural fire crews were called to the incident, off Deep Creek Road, about 12:30pm.

The fire was contained in bushland using earth moving machinery and backburning.

At lunchtime on Monday, the fire was burning safely within containment lines but firefighters were still monitoring the area.

There is no threat to property but there is still a large amount of smoke in the Inverlaw area.

Firefighters were also called to a vegetation fire burning near Saddle Tree Creek Road at Wengenville on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at 2:30pm, with about eight crews responding.

The fire is burning in an inaccessible area but no properties are under threat.

Brooklands Rural Fire Brigade reported the fire was started accidentally by someone using a grinder.

East Nanango rural firefighters were also kept busy at the weekend.

On Saturday, firefighters were called to a blaze at Brights Road about lunchtime. The fire was contained and extinguished.

Then on Sunday, the brigade was called to a fire which had been lit illegally without a permit.

Multiple fire crews were called to a grass fire which broke out near Sexton Road and the Wide Bay Highway at Lower Wonga on Sunday morning.

At 9:00am on Monday, crews were still on scene.

The fire was burning within containment lines, however smoke was affecting the surrounding areas.
