Relay For Life’s annual Dinner with the Captains will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall this Saturday night, and there’ll be special items up for auction as well as special guests.

Sporting greats headlining this year’s dinner are former Australian Rugby Union star Mark Ella, Commonwealth Games swimming dual gold medallist Lisa Forrest and former international cricketer Ian Healy.

They will share insights from their sporting careers and – if past dinners are anything to go by – many will be hilarious.

The dinner will also include an auction that has become renowned for offering rare, valuable and often unique sports memorabilia.

Special items up for bids this year include signed gloves and a T-shirt from WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn; a beach volleyball signed by four Commonwealth Games medallists, donated by the South Burnett’s own beach volleyball champion Taliqua Clancy; and a “one of a kind” miniature cricket collection signed by Ian Healy, Darren Lehmann, Brett Lee, Jason Gillespie, Glenn McGrath and Carl Rackemann, donated by Malcolm and Helen Gold.

There will also be a 10-seat open air box at the Gabba for the first test between Australia and Sri Lanka, donated by Cricket Australia; four tickets to Bon Jovi’s concert at Suncorp Stadium on December 6, donated by Suncorp Stadium; and an eight-seat box at the Pat Rafter Arena for the Brisbane International tennis night session on January 1, donated by Brisbane International.

As usual, all proceeds of the dinner and auction will go towards this year’s Relay For Life fundraising drive.

Last year’s South Burnett Relay For Life raised over $145,000 for the Cancer Council of Queensland.
