1200 quality weaners were yarded last Friday, June 22, for Pratt Agencies’ annual June Weaner Sale.
The yarding was made up of approximately 75 per cent steers and 25 per cent heifers.
Steers averaged $2.58/kg and heifers $2.35/kg, to produce an overall average of $2.49/kg.
Warren Wilson from “Redbank Station” at Mitchell was given the judging duties.
Sale results:
- Droughtmaster steers from Roth Rural Enterprises of Gayndah sold for $916 ($2.49) and $744 ($2.47)
- Droughtmaster steers from Murgon sold for $2.47/kg, returning $832
- 3 pens of Santa cross steers from J. Rickards of Proston sold for $2.65/kg to average $711, but the top pen sold to $808
- Santa steers from Manumbar sold for $2.90/kg and $791
- Braford cross steers from Stuart Dingle of Mt Perry sold for $733 and $2.43/kg
- 2 pens of Charolais cross steers from B & A Gannon of Gayndah sold for $807 and $796, both at $2.80/kg
- Red Brangus cross steers from E. Love of Mundubbera sold to $772 at $2.54/kg
- Local Angus steers sold to $2.59/kg and $762
- A line of 220 Braford steers from A & V Bambling of Gayndah sold for an average of $2.66/kg, and the lead of the draft sold to $824
- 44 Braford steers from M & S Kenny of Gayndah sold for an average of $2.67/kg, topping at $817
- 3 pens of Droughtmaster steers from Waringa Breeding Co. of Hivesville sold for $2.63/kg, averaging $530 and 200kg.
- 310kg Droughtmaster heifers from Gayndah sold for $743 at $2.38/kg
- Charolais cross heifers weighing 242kg sold to $587 at $2.42/kg
- Charolais cross heifers from G & J Zahl of Gayndah sold for $549 and $2.42/kg
- Charbray heifers from M. Smith of Gayndah sold for $2.43/kg at $573
- Charbray heifers from A & R Barsby of Tansey also sold for $2.43/kg, returning $650
- Charbray heifers from C. Love of Mundubbera sold for $623 at $2.45/kg
- Prize winning Braford heifers from M & S Kenny sold to $2.80/kg and $562
The Best Pen of Steers was won by AJ Bambling & Co of Gayndah, while the Best Pen of Heifers was won by R. Dower of Tingoora.
AJ Bambling & Co also won the Best Pen of Braford Steers, while the Best Pen of Braford Heifers was won by M & S Kenny of Gayndah.
The next Murgon sale will be held on Tuesday, July 3 at 8:00am.
