The long trip to Goondiwindi didn’t work out well for the South Burnett Saints on Saturday in the AFL Darling Downs competition.
The travellers went down 23.20 (158) to 8.2 (50) in a game which was always going to be tough against the Hawks at home.
South Burnett goals were kicked by Joseph Amery (3), Kieran Askin (2), Matthew Hayes, Kyall Shepherd and Adam Bowater.
Despite the loss, the Saints are still holding down third spot on the ladder, although they’ve allowed South Toowoomba to slip clear.
Next Saturday, the Saints will be back at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy, taking on the Warwick Redbacks who are in sixth place.
After enjoying a bye, the Saints Women will also be in action in Kingaroy this weekend, up against South Toowoomba.
