Planning is well under way for QRRRWN’s 25th annual conference which will be held in Kingaroy in September.
QRRRWN – the Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Women’s Network – began in the Burnett a quarter of a century ago and many of the inaugural members were from the Kingaroy area, which is why the town has been chosen to host this year’s conference.
The QRRRWN Board met in Kingaroy on Friday to discuss arrangements and hold a social “face-to-face” get-together with local members and prospective members.
QRRRWN president Melissa Barnett said the association was started by Monto farmer Jan Darlington.
Durong grazier Georgie Somerset was one of the founding members.
Since then the association has gone from strength-to-strength – and undergone a few tweaks to its name – as it grew to become a strong voice for rural women.
The conference will be held from September 13-15.
