The countdown is on … Agriculture Minister David Littleproud has reminded companies and consumers that Country of Origin Labelling is just over a fortnight away.

From July 1, products on supermarket shelves will be legally required to display country of origin information.

“This is great news for customers and companies,” Mr Littleproud said.

“Aussie customers will be able to choose Australian and vote with their wallets.

“Companies which source their products from Australia will be able to display it loud and proud and reap the rewards.

Member for Flynn Ken O’Dowd welcomed Mr Littleproud to his electorate in January to visit Smart Berries’ farm at Boynewood to see the Country if Origin Labelling changes in action.

Smart Berries rolled out the new labelling ahead of time.

“Australians want to know where their food is made and packed, and how much has been sourced from Australian farmers,” Mr O’Dowd said.

“It’s very exciting to see so many Country Of Origin Labels appearing on our supermarket shelves over the past few months and in a few short weeks, they will all need to comply with the new labelling system.”
