Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien will be extending his annual Community Survey to July 20 after receiving a record response this year.

Mr O’Brien said his office was receiving as many as 100 surveys per day, and more than 1500 people had already taken part, either online or by posting a printed survey form to his office.

The survey had originally been scheduled to close on June 12.

“I’m really pleased with the response to Wide Bay’s Community Survey 2018 and want to give everyone the opportunity to have their say on a range of local, State and national issues,” Mr O’Brien said.

“The questions in Wide Bay’s Community Survey 2018 canvass opinions on a range of policy fronts, including taxation, cost of living, jobs and the economy, welfare, transport, community safety, education, border protection and national security, health, seniors, environment, energy, and community and social issues.”

A printed copy of the survey was delivered to all Wide Bay electorate letterboxes in early May.

It is also available on Mr O’Brien’s website

“Wide Bay is a terrific place to live and I want to hear from local residents about what we can do to make it even better,” Mr O’Brien said.

“The survey asks about support for ideas and proposals that sometimes come before the Parliament and would impact on individuals, their local community and our region.

“Wide Bay’s Community Survey 2018 gives people an opportunity to have their say and will help me to better reflect their views in the Federal Parliament.”

The results of the survey will be available later this year.
