A movie shot on location at Jimbour House west of Bell will premiere in cinemas across Australia on July 5.

“Although its spectacular drama and storytelling will have a global appeal, there’s no doubt The Second is a Queensland film through and through,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said on Thursday.

“It was written and produced by Brisbane’s Stephen Lance and directed by Brisbane’s Mairi Cameron.

“The film was shot at the 177-year-old Jimbour House, and features music written by Queensland composer Ryan Walsh and performed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.”

The Second was funded through Screen Queensland’s ‘Queensland Originals: Fully Funded Features with Stan’ initiative, and had its Australian premiere at the Gold Coast Film Festival in April.

It tells the story of an author struggling to produce a follow-up novel to her racy first best-seller.

In an attempt to overcome writer’s block, the author and her publisher boyfriend go for a long weekend at her family’s country home.

But the ghosts of her past rise to the surface.

The Second stars Rachael Blake (Lantana), Susie Porter (Two Hands), Vince Colosimo (Chopper), Martin Sacks (A Place To Call Home) and Susan Prior (Puberty Blues).

The movie will also become available on streaming service Stan from July 20.
