The Bombers proved too strong at home for the South Burnett Saints in Round 2 of the Darling Downs AFL competition on Saturday.

The South Toowoomba side overwhelmed South Burnett in the first quarter, and although the Saints played strongly for the rest of the match – and actually kicked more six-pointers in the last quarter than the Bombers – it wasn’t enough to pare back the margin.

At the end of the first quarter, South Toowoomba led 6.4-40 to 1.1-7.

By half-time, the Saints had clawed back to be behind 10.4-64 to 5.5-35.

The full-time score was 16.8-104 to 11.8-74.

Saints’ goals were kicked by Joseph Amery (5), Nathan Trace (2), Ben Pressnell (2), Adam Bowater and Brad Pressnell.

The South Burnett side will be back at home at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy next Saturday, taking on the Dalby Swans at 2:30pm.
