Need a powerbank portable charger for your phone or other portable devices? You can get one free if you drop in to the South Burnett’s tourist centres.

On Tuesday, the South Burnett Regional Council announced it will make powerbanks available for residents and tourists who visit all five of the region’s Visitor Information Centres (VICs) in a 12 month period.

To claim the prize, participants simply need to swipe their free Rewardle shopping card or app at each VIC.

The main aim of the offer is to entice residents and visitors to travel the entire region.

Its secondary aim is to better inform residents about the facilities available in the South Burnett so they can become tourism ambassadors to friends and relatives who pay visits.

“This is a great concept for encouraging locals to visit to our region’s high quality Visitor Information Centres and meet our wonderful volunteers,” Mayor Keith Campbell said.

“Not only do the volunteers who work in our VICs have a valuable understanding of local attractions, but the centres also stock local produce and brochures.

“Some are also co-located with our regional museums.”

The South Burnett’s VICs are located at Blackbutt, Nanango, Kingaroy, Wondai and Murgon.

    • Cards were available at the businesses involved in the recent South Burnett Regional Council shop local promotion. They may still be available at the Visitor Information Centres, or download the free app to a smartphone.
