Recent rainfall has lifted the levels of BP Dam and Lake Boondooma slightly, but not enough to persuade the South Burnett Regional Council to ease current water restrictions.

Water portfolio chair Cr Roz Frohloff told Wednesday’s council meeting inflows over the past month had increased Boondooma Dam’s capacity to 44 per cent, and BP Dam’s to 22 per cent.

“These increases are not enough,” Cr Frohloff said.

“Because our main supply dams are quite low, water restrictions will have to remain at Level 3 across the South Burnett until these dams receive significant inflows.”

Level 3 water restrictions were introduced last July.

They ban the use of sprinklers and prohibit hand-held hosing of paved or concreted areas.

Hand held watering of gardens and lawns is permitted from 7:00am to 8:00am, and 5:00pm to 6:00pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays for odd numbered houses and on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays for even numbered houses.

No residential watering is permitted on Mondays.
