Ergon Energy repair crews were called to the corner of Alford Street East and Fisher Street on Wednesday evening after a power pole was hit by a truck.
A semi-trailer carrying hay bales turning out of Alford Street East clipped the pole, bringing down powerlines.
The driver, 42, told police he had swerved to avoid another vehicle.
He was not injured in the incident.
QFES were called to the scene about 6:00pm to secure the area.
The area was declared safe about 7:30pm.
Ergon Energy customers in the vicinity lost power for about 2.5 hours while repairs were carried out.
The road remained closed while repairs were carried out.
