Kumbia QCWA president Catherine Woodham will be losing her locks in Kingaroy this Saturday morning for the World’s Greatest Shave to help fight blood cancer

March 15, 2018

Kumbia QCWA president Catherine Woodham will be joining more than 20,000 Aussies this year as the Leukaemia Foundation celebrates the 20th birthday of its iconic World’s Greatest Shave campaign.

Catherine is encouraging anyone who has been thinking about supporting this cause but is not ready to shave themselves to come along to Studio for Hair at 15 Alford Street in Kingaroy this Saturday morning to support her as she gets her shave.

Catherine will be joining more than 1.9 million Aussies of all ages who have helped beat blood cancer over the past two decades by getting sponsored to shave, colour, wax, cut pony tails, banish beards and trim top knots.

“Whether you have a personal connection to blood cancer or simply want to have fun and raise money for a good cause, I’m asking South Burnett residents to show their support for this event,” Catherine said.

You can even join in by cutting off some of Catherine’s hair from 10:00am on Saturday.

“My cut off locks will be put to a good use,” Catherine said.

“For the first time, the World’s Greatest Shave is ‘going green’ in 2018, thanks to a partnership with Sustainable Salons Australia.

“This means ponytails snipped from those taking part in the event will now be turned into wigs for cancer patients, while shorter hair clippings will be transformed into compost and floating booms to absorb oil spills at sea.”

Catherine will be in Kingaroy Shoppingworld on Friday to promote the events taking part in Kingaroy on the weekend.

Money raised will give families facing blood cancer – including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma – the free emotional and practical support they need, as well as help fund vital medical research.
