Kingaroy Soaring Club has proven itself to be one of the best gliding clubs in the nation with four of its members being selected to represent Australia at the upcoming world championships to be held in Poland and the Czech Republic.

Adam Woolley, Jim Crowhurst, John Buchanan and Ray Stewart will leave Australia at the end of June to compete in different classes.

Adam has been selected in the 15m and 18m racing classes, and with John Buchanan in team flying.

Adam said he and John have been practising their team flying skills for more than two years and were hopeful of bringing back gold.

Jim will be competing in the Club class for older-style gliders.

Ray is in the Standard class, similar to the Club class but his glider will carry water ballast.

These competitions involve racing around a virtual course in the sky, rounding GPS marker points, in the quickest possible time.

The Club, Standard and 15m Racing classes will be competed in Poland from July 2-21.

The 18m Racing, Open and two-seater classes will be in the Czech Republic from July 26-August 11.
