An elderly driver struck five shoppers at Kingaroy Shoppingworld on Friday morning after she apparently lost control of her vehicle.

The woman’s Toyota sedan mounted the footpath and scattered pedestrians outside the shopping centre’s Brumby’s entrance.

Ambulance paramedics were quickly on hand and assessed five people at the scene.

Two elderly women were taken to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries; the other three people did not require treatment.

The incident occurred about 11:00am.

Kingaroy Shoppingworld manager Chris O’Rourke said it appeared the vehicle had struck an emergency services pole and mounted the footpath at a slow speed.

The vehicle sustained minor damage to its front bumper and guard.

The female driver, from Woombye, was spoken to by police at the scene and the centre’s entrance was temporarily closed.

Police investigations are continuing.

The vehicle sustained only minor damage in the incident
