The State Government has called on Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to end uncertainty over the final Inland Rail route through Queensland.
Agriculture Minister Mark Furner said it was “long past the time” to end the frustration for landholders, investors and industry stakeholders.
“The lives of farmers throughout the Darling Downs are on hold while Coalition MPs scrap among themselves and the Federal Government refuses to reveal its plans,” he said.
“The delays and indecision have gone on long enough.”
Federal Infrastructure Minister Darren Chester announced a review into the proposed Inland Rail route from Yelarbon to Gowrie in November 2017 after lobbying by the Member for Maranoa – now Federal Agriculture Minister – David Littleproud and others.
“Mr Littleproud was unhappy with the proposed route across the Condamine flood plain and campaigned for a review while he was a backbencher,” Mr Furner said.
“It’s time to announce the results of the review, so Queensland farmers know whether the new Federal Agriculture Minister plans on standing up for their interests and the interests of his constituents in Canberra.”
