Kingaroy firefighters inspect the damaged Dodge SUV in Kingaroy Creek

December 28, 2017

A young couple from NSW had their travel plans cut short in Kingaroy on Thursday afternoon when their SUV ran off the Bunya Highway and ended up in a creek.

The incident occurred about 1:15pm just outside Kingaroy.

Ambulance paramedics checked the three occupants of the car – a man, woman and child – at the scene.

The woman and child were then transported to Kingaroy Hospital as a precautionary measure.

The Dodge Journey appears to have left the highway just before the bridge over Kingaroy Creek, careered down a small bank and ended up surrounded by mud and reeds.

Kingaroy firefighters assisted with unloading the vehicle, which was packed with luggage for the couple’s trip.
