The Nanango and District Netball Club will be holding representative team netball trials early this year.
Next Thursday, December 7 at Nanango State High School, independant selectors will be onsite to select players who have good netball skills, demonstrate commitment, show good sportsmanship and/or look prepared to learn and practice.
Next year, the Rep Teams teams will travel to Bundaberg, Downey Park and Ipswich, the Wide-Bay Representative Carnival and other carnivals, and will start training for them in January.
NNC President Georgina Mitchell said that playing as part of a representative team helps grow the netball skills of both girls and boys.
“Playing at a representative level means the kids get more opportunities to practice their skills, play the game, be part of a team, excercise and most importantly wear a uniform knowing they worked hard to earn the position.”
The NNC intends to give the teams enough time to practice and play together for the early carnivals in March and April.
“We always play well at the carnivals, but after the teams have played together for a few days you can really see the improvment,” Georgina said.
“We hope this will help our teams’ development and ensure they’re better prepared for the competitions we compete in.”
December 7 Trial Times:
- 4:30pm – Years born 2006 and 2007
- 5:00pm – Years born 2004 and 2005
- 5:30pm – Years born 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003
Nominations should be submitted by December 5.
Forms can be requested by email; on the NNC Facebook page or by texting 0427-379-958.
Nominees should note that the Rep trials will be held at Nanango State High School because the NNC courts are not safe in a safe condition to play on at present.
