The Murgon Men’s Shed was a finalist in the Queensland Community Achievement Awards announced on Saturday night in Brisbane.

The ceremony was held during a gala presentation dinner held at the Royal On The Park hotel.

Entertainment on the night was provided by country singer Bridget O’Shannessy, a familiar face in the South Burnett.

Awards were presented in eight categories.

The Murgon Men’s Shed was nominated in the  “Community Group of the Year”.

The winner was the Umbrella Group of Rockhampton, a not-for-profit organisation which provides support to parents of special needs children.

Murgon Men’s Shed president Jim Rook was called up on stage to be presented with a Finalist certificate by State Development Minister Dr Anthony Lynham.

Bugs For Bugs at Mundubbera, which has been supplying natural pest solutions to farmers for 35 years, won the Agricultural Innovation award.

Awards Australia was established in Perth in 1989. It specialises in conducting awards recognition programs on a local, State and national level.
